Traditional Orchard Survey Volunteer

People’s Trust for Endangered Species

About the opportunity

Traditional orchards are wildlife havens yet we have lost around 90% of this precious habitat since the 1950s. In order to save them, and the thousands of species they support, we need to know where they remain and what condition they are in – which is where you come in!

What are they looking for

We have been finding traditional orchards using OS maps and aerial photographs and we now need you to check that they still exist and let us know about any we may have missed. It’s a difficult task for us to complete UK wide without local knowledge!

No experience is necessary as we will send you a full survey pack with a map of sites to check, clear instructions, ID sheets and survey forms. An interest in the environment, being outdoors, local heritage and/or wildlife are desirable.
