Chairperson – Newtown Action Group

Newtown Action Group was created 14 years ago with Selby Meadow becoming a community garden, but has since grown as the local council asked various areas across the county to take greater responsibility for their communities. Along with tending to tasks such as dealing with grit bins, paths and parking, they act as a conduit for local residents to raise concerns or potential issues, which they will then take up with the relevant authorities. They also work with a children’s group in Uckfield, who provide a weekly small child and mother group.

They are seeking a Chairperson to take over heading up their organisation, who will be responsible for chairing their meetings and act as the lead at events. This is a role which would suit someone in the area who is looking to become more involved in their community, having a say in the maintaining of Uckfield’s Newtown, and acting as a representative for local residents.

Newtown Action Group are going to be holding a meeting at the Alma Arms (Framfield Road) on the 6th of December, for residents to raise any concerns, but this will also be a perfect chance to meet the current organisers and ask any questions about the group.
